Sound familiar? So many solopreneurs believe that success comes from grinding non-stop. We think that if we just put in a little more effort, power through the discomfort, and ignore our bodies, we'll reach our goals.

Or that we actually need to ignore our bodies in order to see that success.

But here’s the thing: that constant grind is dysregulating your nervous system—and that is seriously hurting your business.


How does this show up? It’s not just the sleepless nights or the endless to-do lists. A dysregulated nervous system impacts everything:

  • You freeze up during sales calls, unable to confidently discuss pricing.

  • Marketing feels overwhelming, so you find it hard to keep showing up or you avoid it altogether.

  • When it comes to setting boundaries with clients, you end up over-delivering and undercharging.

  • You burn out. 

What you don’t realize is that these reactions aren’t a reflection of your capabilities—they’re your nervous system crying out for regulation.

This matters because so much of the business day-to-day is about visibility in terms of selling and marketing, and visibility is so triggering for so many of us for very good reason. We were literally bought up to be ‘good’, ‘quiet’, to not make a fuss, or put our head above the parapet.

All of this is the antithesis of business so no wonder we get so dysregulated. Being in business and making money just doesn’t feel safe!

When your nervous system is in fight-or-flight mode, your ability to run your business efficiently, connect with clients, and make clear decisions is compromised. You’re constantly operating from a place of survival, not thriving.
In my own business, I’ve learned that regulating my nervous system is just as important as having a good pricing strategy or marketing plan. It’s foundational. Without a regulated nervous system, you can’t show up with conviction in your pricing, your sales conversations, or your work. You’ll always feel like you’re either doing too much or not enough.

Here’s how I do it differently:

  • I’ve built daily practices into my routine that help me regulate my nervous system, like mindfulness and simple movement, taking a walk in nature..

  • I price my services in a way that feels good for my body, not just my bank account. I no longer fear my clients' reactions because I’m grounded and confident in the value I offer.

  • I approach sales and marketing from a calm, centered place—so it feels like an extension of my purpose, not a chore.

  • I keep a daily ‘nervous system’ journal of what triggered me and what I did to get back to a place of safety.

  • Most importantly of all, I have a support network, a whole raft of people I can call on or tap into when I get dysregulated so I don’t have to feel on my own with this; people like, my coach, my mastermind group, friends, other business owners.

When your nervous system is regulated, you can show up more consistently. Selling becomes easier, your marketing flows, and your client work deepens because you’re not operating from a place of fear or survival. I don’t just say this—I live it because I have learned the hard way….

So, when I am working with clients, yes we need to look at all the business things they need to get to where they want to be, but it would be remis of me not to help them build the support they need to stay regulated.

They go from feeling stuck and burnt out to thriving, pricing in a way that is aligned with their values and based on their need, and creating businesses that align with their nervous system and right to rest.
