Thriving in a busy marketplace
Have you ever thought, I need to be the best to succeed?
It’s a belief so many of us hold onto: if we’re not the best—if we’re not the cheapest, the most polished, or the one with the biggest audience—then how will we stand out?
Let’s face it, we are all operating in busy marketplaces. Take business coaching; wow, busy busy space, so how do I make a living at all when I’m not the ‘best’ (whatever that is…)
Because being the “best” isn’t what makes people choose you.
People don’t pick their favourite coffee shop because it has the most awards. They don’t hire their favourite coach because they’ve taken the most certifications. And they don’t buy from their favourite brand because it’s the cheapest.
They choose based on connection, trust, and resonance.
What does that mean for you? It means you don’t have to compete to be the best. You just need to be the person who understands your clients so well that they feel seen and valued. You need to be someone’s favourite.
This shift changes everything.
Instead of trying to out compete everyone else, you can focus on building a business that aligns with your values and creates authentic relationships with the people you want to work with. Instead of trying to reach everyone, you can speak directly to your people.
So ask yourself:
What would it feel like to stop trying to prove you’re the best?
How would your business change if you focused on creating meaningful connections?
What difference could it make to show up in a way that feels authentic to you?
You don’t need to be the loudest voice in the room or have the flashiest offers. You just need to show up as you are, with clarity, consistency, and care.
Because thriving in a busy marketplace isn’t about being “the best.” It’s about being someone’s favourite.
